HOW TO USE OUR CANVA TEMPLATES TO CREATE YOUR OWN MARKETING COLLATERAL

What is Canva?

Canva is a free online graphic design software that makes it easy to generate quality collateral with very little effort. We have developed marketing templates in Canva that you can use to create your own collateral for your business. These include brochures, social tiles and posters you can display in store or around town to promote an upcoming event, or to promote your services to specific groups such as HCP participants and NDIS recipients.

Why are brochures & marketing materials important?

Your customers are arguably your most valuable 'asset'. Customers require ongoing attention to build and maintain loyalty. With a healthy and engaged customer database, your business will be positioned to go from strength to strength. While your customer list can take time to grow, these days there are lots of opportunities to use free channels to reach new customers and the reward for your efforts can be low cost and high reward.

Using simple marketing materials, you can create bespoke information about your offering, allowing you to both stay engaged with your existing customer base as well as attracting new potential customers.

What you need to do STEP BY STEP

STEP 1: Create a free Canva account. If you don’t already have one, you can register for one here.

TIP #1: TO SET UP A CANVA ACCOUNT –  1. Enter the email address you'd like to use in Canva, then 2. tap Continue. 3. Enter your preferred account name. 4. Tap Create your account. 5. Enter the code that was sent to your email address to finish signing up.

STEP 2: View our library of templates including in-store posters, window decals, thank you postcards, social media tiles, HCP flyers and more. These are designs that we have made in the past for some wonderful people using Cookaborough to run their food business. We have created templates from the designs we made for them, to start you off creating your own.

TIP #2:     HAVE YOUR OWN LOGO, QR CODE AND IMAGES OF YOUR FOOD READY TO UPLOAD INTO CANVA. DEPENDING ON WHICH DESIGN YOU CHOOSE YOU MAY ALSO NEED YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS AND OF COURSE YOUR KITCHEN URL.

We will update the template library from time to time during the year and let you know via Cooks in the Borough so stay tuned.

STEP 3: Time to start building your brochures and marketing materials!

    • Select a design from the library.
    • This will open a window that says: A template created by Cookaborough was shared with you, start designing now
    • Click on Use template for new design. When you click through, Canva will open and you can save the template as your own into your free Canva account and start designing!

TIP #3:     MAKE SURE YOU PLACE ALL OF YOUR BRANDED ASSETS INTO YOUR DESIGNS - DOUBLE CHECK BEFORE YOU POST OR PRINT THAT ALL THE INFORMATION - INCLUDING ANY QR CODES - IS YOUR OWN!

TIP #4:     DOWNLOAD IMAGES DIRECTLY FROM YOUR INSTAGRAM FEED BY USING THIS FREE BROWSER EXTENSION

FYI : WE WILL UPDATE THESE TEMPLATES  FROM TIME TO TIME DEPENDING ON THE TIME OF YEAR. WE WIILL LET YOU KNOW VIA COOKS IN THE BOROUGH FACEBOOK GROUP, OR CHECK IN HERE FROM TIME TO TIME.

How to print your brochures and marketing materials

You may choose simply to download your designs rather than print them, particularly if you are emailing or creating social media assets. However for designs that need printing we suggest either using Canva which is very efficient, Vista Print for large quantities, or simply popping into your local printer for smaller quantities.

Using Canva

Canva is a very intuitive program and once you have used it once or twice, it will become easy to navigate. Canva has great tutorials here if you get stuck, OR if you find you get the bug and would like to invest some more time in becoming a whizz at generating your own marketing materials!

We are always here!

We know adopting any new technology can be challenging, so please feel free to reach out should you be stuck or need some guidance by emailing help@cookaborough.com
